I am a color-challenged relief printer inspired by all things farms and gardens. I am grateful to all the farmers and growers, friends, who have let me trudge through their barns and fields to photograph and sketch. These walks have inspired the many landscapes, flora, and fauna that have been the basis of my commercial illustration work.
Recently, I have been exploring a more reflective, contemporary approach using this body of work. Layering color with mono print, relief images, and collage elements create opportunity for chance occurrences and happy accidents. New narratives emerge as context evolves. The current political climate, the plight of farms, environmental challenges and of course a pandemic, were prompts for recent work.
