Rae Gagliardy Vincent

  • Rae Vincent is a life-long art enthusiast. She enjoys all aspects of visual art; the history of it, the diverse tools and media to create it and the emotions attached to it. Whether it be hanging in a museum or doodled on a napkin, she appreciates the process and creativity of art.

In the past, Rae co-owned and operated a small greenhouse business and later became an elementary art teacher. Both of those occupations and raising two children fulfilled her life as a young woman. Now that she’s retired and a grandmother, she has a new perspective.

She has now devoted her life to creating her own artwork. Her art is influenced by her past and ongoing desire to nurture. Prior to beginning a piece, Rae evokes the spirit of compassion and kindness. It is that essence that directs her hand and, she hopes, is transferred to the viewer.

  • Mixed media collage allows me to use a variety of art materials. I use acrylic paint, crayon, ink, gesso, stencils and a number of mark making tools. I have a studio full of ephemera that I have been collecting for many years...photographs, images and inspirational or poignant words from magazines, maps, old sheet music, tissue paper, old stamps, old greeting cards, ticket stubs. It's these things that I have saved, things that I considered too precious to throw away that I am now incorporating into my artwork.
