Lana Hirsch

  • For the last 30 years I have enjoyed splitting my time between the Hudson Valley and New York City. I teach Ceramics at the 92Y and have a studio in Ancramdale, NY. where I work on most of the mixed media pieces. I am passionate about making a connection between the viewer and my work. I use the elements of surprise and surrealism in many pieces. I am proud to say my work hangs in a couple of collectors homes next too some very prominent artists. I love working on commissioned personalized art with the photos provided by the client. Happy to talk to you about a commission.

  • As long as I can remember, I was interested in being creative. It was a challenge to allow myself the freedom to make art for art itself. I started out as a potter at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. Discovering mixed media several years ago opened a new door for me to express myself. My work is controlled chaos that reflects an idea or concept I want the viewer to think about. Being a creative woman defines me and allows the viewer to get to know that part of me. My work often has an organic feel that is inspired by images, beauty, nature and the imperfection and transience of life or Wabi-Sabi. When I start a new work, it is usually inspired from and idea not fully developed. I enjoy letting the work find its own intuitive voice as I attempt to find the exact object, material, photo, line, color to blend together to complete a creative vision which bring the work to life.
