Susanna Grannis

  • I moved to the Hudson Valley area nine years ago and began to draw and paint more seriously than before. I had studied art history and dabbled in drawing and painting during my years of “real” work as a kind of hobby. Now I paint landscapes, sometimes with animals or buildings. My medium of choice is pastel. I have enjoyed showing my work in various venues in the area.

  • When one holds a pastel and makes marks on paper, it feels so direct and immediate. Perhaps my enjoyment is much like a preschool child with finger paints. I am drawn to scenes of nature, especially those that connect with my rural past.
